Definition of Terms
Archival: Acid free. An archival intaglio monotype is produced on 100% rag paper with lightfast pigments.
Lightfast: The ability of a color to not fade or change over time, or when exposed to light.
Rag Paper: The amount of cotton fibers in a paper. Basically, the more rag, the longer the paper will last.
Monotype: A monotype is a one of a kind hand pulled print made through one or a comnination of the four printmaking mediums; intaglio (etching) lithography, serigraphy (silk screen) or wood block/linoleum printing.
Hand Pulled: A hand printed edition or one of a kind monotype made through one or more of the printmaking mediums described above. The artists hand pulls the print. Not to be confused with art printed for or by commercial mechanical reproduction processes.
Limited Edition: A limited amount of reproductions, will have numeric symbols written on each reproduction, ie. 3/50, which translates into the third print out of only 50 reproductions.
